Social equity is a core priority for the City, as well as a core component of the City’s Sustainability Program. In order to ensure that initiatives across the organization, including sustainability and climate action, support the advancement of equity in our community, the City of Longmont is looking to establish an Equity and Engagement Specialist position. This position will be responsible for supporting the development of an organizational equity roadmap, facilitate the City’s Equity Team, and develop and implement best practices for equity-based community engagement, with a focus on underrepresented communities and those most impacted by climate change, such as low-income residents, people from different cultural     backgrounds, small businesses, persons with disabilities, older adults, and non-English speaking households. In addition, this position will facilitate the analysis of climate and sustainability initiatives through an equity lens to support decision-making, prioritization of actions, and identify potential negative impacts from proposed actions, as well as options for mitigating such impacts.
