    We are seeking a skilled yet adaptable Credit Officer to join our team and help us continue our tradition of providing exceptional financial services to our customers. 

    Your Mission:

    As a Credit Officer at High Plains Bank, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the continued health of our loan portfolio. You will be a key partner in analyzing credit requests, identifying potential risks, and making sound lending decisions that align with our commitment to both customer success and responsible growth.     The Day-to-Day:

    You will collaborate closely with members of the credit administration and loan teams, reviewing loan applications, analyzing financial statements, conducting thorough risk assessments and presenting your findings. You will manage troubled credits, working closely with borrowers to find solutions that minimize losses and support their financial recovery. In addition, you will contribute to the ongoing development of our credit policies and procedures, ensuring we remain compliant with industry regulations and best practices.

    What you bring to High Plains Bank:

    Experience:

    • 3+ years of experience in commercial banking, credit underwriting, or relationship management.

    • Experience with workout loans is highly desired.

    • Experience with agricultural loans is a plus.

    • Previous experience as a Credit Officer or Senior Underwriter is preferred.

    Essential Skills and Knowledge:

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • Excellent credit analysis and risk assessment abilities.

    • In-depth knowledge of lending regulations and practices.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    • Strong decision-making capabilities.

    Desirable Skills and Knowledge:

    • Knowledge of commercial, consumer, and agricultural lending.

    • Familiarity with loan review processes.

    • Experience with credit policy development and implementation.

    Responsibilities of the position:

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Analyze financial statements, tax returns, credit reports, and other relevant information to assess the creditworthiness of loan applicants.

    • Conduct thorough risk assessments and identify potential red flags in commercial, agricultural, and consumer credits.

    • Handle troubled credits, including workouts, collections, and recoveries.

    • Assist in the approval process for credits in all markets we serve.

    Other Responsibilities:

    • Stay informed of current lending regulations, industry best practices, and economic trends.

    • Conduct loan reviews of the bank's portfolio.

    • Support the Underwriting Team.

    • Contribute to the development and implementation of credit policies and procedures.

    Target compensation range

    • $85,000 to $115,000 per year based on experience and qualifications - other factors may be considered

    Physical Requirements

    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

    Location and Schedule

    • In person at one of our 5 locations, hybrid possibility 

    • 8-5 Monday - Friday
