Communications Deputy:
BOULDER VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT is looking for an innovative, effective and experienced communicator who can help bring our newsroom-like operation and digital communications to the next level.
Summary:
Leads day-to-day communication operations within the Boulder Valley School District, managing the district’s editorial processes and working across departments and schools so that the district effectively communicates as one voice.
Inspires and supports departments and schools to incorporate communication and public relations best practice in their daily interactions with district stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
-Determine outcomes that meet the district and Communication department’s vision, devise strategies, monitoring progress towards goals set and work towards continuous improvement.
-Manage the Communications division’s editorial processes to ensure that all communications externally and internally are managed effectively with a focus on on-time completion and accuracy.
-Coordinate with all departments and schools on communication, with a focus on strategic production of content for websites, presentations, etc. to share accurate information with staff and community. Ensure effective management and coordination with the Communications department on translation, graphics and training.
- Foster partnerships with stakeholders and school clientele.
-Manage crisis communication, including the daily response to emergent situations and the long-term development of systems and messaging that ensure efficient and accurate response.
-Research, write, edit, capture multimedia material and produce promotional materials such as news stories, press releases, brochures, special one-time publications, and others as required.
-Manage and produce digital content (e.g. photography, video, graphics,etc.) for use on all district-level avenues, specifically including website and newsletters.
-Lead communications efforts, including Public Information Officer duties, when Chief Communications Officer is unavailable.
-Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
-Bachelor’s Degree with a major pertinent to the position requirements (i.e. Journalism, Communications, Marketing).
-Minimum of five years' experience in communications and/or public relations.
-Extensive computer operating skills using application software including Google Suite.
-Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including work experience in news writing, editing, design and proofreading
-Completed and submitted BVSD on-line application
-Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English
-Ability to travel to multiple locations during the workday
Preferred:
-Extensive experience managing people, projects, and working as a team player, including collaborating with people across multiple departments and levels or a large organization.
-Ability to professionally shoot, edit and produce video, photography and other multimedia material.
-Ability to manage web content, including writing or basic manipulation of HTML code.
-Experience working in news (writing, editing, publication).
-Experience with publication design, photography, videography and project management.
-Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish.
Salary Information:
-Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
