    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Job Title:                              Children, Youth and Families Case Manager

    Hours of Work:                 40 hours per week.  This person will typically work within the hours of 8:30 - 5:00 with some flexibility as determined by the supervisor and employee.  Some evening/weekend work will be required. Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this job.

    Position Summary

    • The goal of this position is to foster resiliency and strong, positive social and emotional development of children experiencing homelessness. This child, youth and family focused case manager provides strengths based, trauma informed case management supportive services to low-income and ethnically diverse children & their parents residing in our housing programs. They work closely with the Housing Case Manager at each site to assure that needs relating to children and parenting are being met. A key piece of the role is to serve as an advocate for children and directly link families with other resources in the community.  Additionally, the CYF Case Manager acts to network, collaborate, and build on-going relationships with community agencies. The focus areas for EFAA’s CYF are access to health care, well-being, parenting skills, child enrichment, and school success.
    Essential Functions
    • Conduct assessment interviews with children and families staying at the housing sites and jointly develop a child/youth/family focused goal, a case plan and resources needed for children, youth and families staying at the housing site.
    • Work cooperatively with Housing Case Managers and CYF Coordinator to provide congruent and comprehensive case management.
    • Advocate for housing families and directly link them to community resources, including local schools, childcare, mental health support, parenting classes, community activities, etc.
    • Develop and strengthen strong professional relationships and coordinate services with other organizations, i.e. YMCA, Head Start, CCAP, BVSD and SVVSD Homeless Liaisons. Represent EFAA and the CYF to other organizations when requested.
    • Communicate and collaborate with Housing Case Managers, Children’s Activities Coordinator/ Case Manager and CYF Coordinator about children’s, youth and family needs and progress.
    • Assist with community events in coordination with the Housing Case Managers and CYF Activities Coordinator/ Case Manager at the three housing sites with the goal of creating community, networking amongst the families and healthy parent to child interactions.
    • Assess and develop relationships with children in an effort to promote positive, strong self-image and assess their individual needs for stability and well-being.
    • Assist and distribute donations of children’s clothing, school supplies, books and Comfort Bags at the family housing sites with help from the CYF staff and volunteers
    • Regularly share child- focused resources with Transitional Housing and Basic Needs Case managers. Serve as a resource for Transitional Housing families as needed by reviewing completed child screening.
    • Fill-in for Housing Case Managers as needed for program coverage.
    • Research and be open to further  development of children’s programming as time allows and goals are set, such as:
    • Support early childhood development programs in the Housing Programs, especially parent education programs and high-quality early childhood education through referrals and on-site parenting classes
    • Participate in efforts to plan, create, implement and evaluate public policy that has a positive impact on early childhood education and development, and family self-sufficiency (this is from the Rose Foundation – they look for efforts in changing public policy)
    • Assist in the implementation of an on-site family and mental health support programs, trainings, and support groups, as appropriate.
    • Assist the CYF Team to design and implement a trauma enforced, evidence based curriculum.
    • Serve as the staff coordinator for the Literacy Enhancement Program
    • Be a subject matter expert and help design, and implement EFAA’s new 0-5 Thrive Pilot.
    • Data entry of all relevant information into systems.
    • Attend all appropriate staff meetings.
    • Take proper safety precautions, anticipate unsafe circumstances and act accordingly to prevent accidents.  Adhere to and practice EFAA safety rules and COVID protocols.  Be responsible for ensuring volunteers and supervised staff adhere to EFAA safety rules at all times.

    The duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list and that additional tasks may be assigned as necessitated by organizational demands.

    Skills/Competencies

    • Degree in child development, education, human services or equivalent experience required.
    • 2 years’ experience working with children in some capacity required.
    • Verbal and written Spanish language proficiency.
    • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
    • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
    • Ability to communicate and work easily with a wide variety of people.
    • Requires computer skills in MS Office and Teams.
    • Requires a valid Colorado Driver’s License and private transportation and a clean driving record.

    Working Environment, Physical Activities and Equipment Used: 

    Physical agility to perform all aspects of the job including standing, sitting, walking, the use of stairs, ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Typical office environment. Regularly uses computers for data input and other work.

    Compensation

    This is a full-time position (100% FTE) or 40 hours per week. The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $53,500. Competitive pay commensurate with education and experience.
